Unsponsored Review Of Dae Shampoo & Conditioner

I’m always on the hunt for great clean beauty and hair products, so I was excited when Amber Fillerup came out with a new clean hair line, Dae Hair. I love Amber’s hair extensions brand, Barefoot Blonde Hair (see my review here!), and hadn’t found a clean conditioner I was happy with yet, so despite the high-ish price tag, I went ahead and bought the shampoo and conditioner at Sephora online. Here are my thoughts based on about a month of use:

SHORT VERSION: I loved both of them. I would buy the conditioner again, but not sure if I would buy the shampoo again.

Dae Shampoo | Dae Conditioner | Dae Deep Conditioning Treatment

PROS:

  1. Truly clean ingredients: I double checked the ingredients on EWG, and Dae checks out as clean! The only somewhat questionable ingredient is citrus oil (which is in tons of natural products). Citrus oil is not considered toxic, but it is a common allergen. If you are allergic to citrus, keep that in mind! Other than that, it looked great, and while it doesn’t have an official EWG rating yet, I estimate it would receive a 1 or 2 (the best rating).

  2. Conditioner really does detangle: The big question for me was whether the conditioner would detangle, because I haven’t yet found any natural conditioner that does that, and Dae claimed that it would. And, indeed, it did! My hair is much healthier after using this because I’m terrible about brushing my hair regularly, but the conditioner detangles enough to save me from that bad habit. I wouldn’t say it’s a miracle detangler or anything, but it does the job. It’s pretty comparable to other normal detangling conditioners, but way better than any other natural conditioner I’ve tried.

  3. Made my hair shiny: I felt like my hair was shinier and softer after using these! And it definitely felt clean afterward — no weird residue

  4. Smells good: Has a nice floral citrus smell

  5. Look pretty in the shower: This probably doesn’t matter to everyone, but I do love that these look so good in the shower! They feel high end, and they come with a hand pump to make it easier than squeezing shampoo out the top.

CONS:

  1. Higher price point: Each bottle is $24 for 10 fl oz, which is more than I normally pay for shampoo and conditioner. Since the conditioner was so much better than others, I’ll buy it again. The shampoo was good too, but not really any better than other natural (cheaper) shampoos I’ve tried, so I probably won’t splurge on the shampoo again.

  2. Shampoo could be sudsier: The shampoo is good and I’ll continue to use up this bottle and love it, but I prefer my shampoo to be super sudsy, and this was just ok. I felt better using two pumps of shampoo to get enough suds.

  3. A little doesn’t go a long way: I’m about half way through the conditioner bottle after about a month of use. That’s not terrible, but seems like it could be better. Again, I’m still going to buy it again because it’s worth it, but would be nice to see it stretch for longer. I have long hair and use about 4 pumps of conditioner to fully detangle my hair.

Overall, I liked Dae Shampoo and Conditioner! They also have a Deep Conditioning Treatment that I would love to try at some point. Since I probably won’t purchase the shampoo again, I plan on saving the bottles and refilling the shampoo one with a cheaper alternative (I like Acure), to keep the pretty look in my shower! I will buy the Conditioner again though.
