59. Old Money Aesthetic 101 & Timeless Capsule Wardrobe Inspo

Today I thought it would be fun to chat about a new fashion trend I have been seeing everywhere for the last several months, specifically ever since Sofia Richie’s engagement and wedding, and the trend is being called “old money” style.

I think this could also be described as Upper East Side Style or basically it’s like east coast wealthy preppy style.

I feel like there’s a conversation you could have about whether or not this is problematic to strive for, but, deeper cultural issues aside, I’m in the camp that on the surface level at least it is a very pretty style and I aspire to wear more of it. ” meets “I’m still fashionable and feminine.”

And just in general, whenever it becomes trendy to be more preppy, I am a fan, because my personality is preppy, so all the ultra relaxed, didn’t try too hard, casual styles are not as natural for me to get into.
So let’s jump into a 3-part chat about old money aesthetic: First, diving more into what the trend is and why I am enjoying it, second, what items I would shop to put together a capsule wardrobe that is the old money aesthetic, and third, how I think the look can be achieved without the actual old money budget.
